Our Response to COVID-19

At Hospice Services of Lake County, our main goal is the safety and health of our patients, families, clients and staff.
We are tracking the Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 situation and following all guidelines provided by the California Department of Public Health, the Lake County Health Services Department, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Hospice & Palliative Care Services
Our staff are continually updated and educated on COVID-19 and infection control practices. As we continue to put plans in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are including our patients and families in this decision-making, as our staff typically make home visits. A part of what we can all do to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is social distancing and limiting the number of visitors to the home.  We want to make sure our patients and families feel fully supported.  We are contacting each patient and family to discuss how we can best support you at this time.  We are always available by phone 24/7 and remain available to make visits as needed.

Grief Support Services
Our Grief Support Groups, including the Good Mourning Group, have now been postponed. We are still available for individual support by phone.  We welcome your phone call to us to start that process.

While we recognize that the news of COVID-19 can be stressful, this time – when many plans are being cancelled or postponed – provides an opportunity for self-care. Taking walks in nature, reading, getting exercise, and tuning into what you like to do at home can be nourishing and healing.

Youth Grief Support Services
Our school-based Wings of Hope grief counseling is suspended at this time. Our staff is available by phone to support parents and guardians.

The following resources may be helpful for parents in talking with their children about the Coronavirus:

Thrift Stores
Our thrift store operations have reopened!   We are welcoming customers, volunteers and donors back…please remember to wear your masks and practice the 6′ of safe distancing while shopping and donating. With all of the recent extra time at home for closet cleaning, we are counting on your donations to fill out stores! Our thrift store sales and donations are integral to supporting our bereavement services and special needs of Hospice patients.

While we recognize that the news of COVID -19 can be stressful, this time – when many activities are being cancelled – provides an opportunity for self-care. Taking time to take walks, reading, snuggling with your pets and focusing on what you like to do at home can be nourishing (even baking a batch of Toll House cookies) can healing.

We are here for you and just a phone call away at 707-263-6222
