This care and support extends to our valued employees.  All employees enjoy a competitive compensation package and generous benefits based on their full-time status that include:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for all full-time employees – Hospice pays 85% of the employee premium, and 30% of the dependent (children & spouse) premium.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) accruals start at 20 days per year for full-time employees.  Accruals are pro-rated for employees working fewer than 40 hours per week.
  • Holiday pay of 9 days per year for full-time employees (part-time employees receive this benefit when the holiday falls on their normally- scheduled workday).
  • Employee Assistance Program for all full and part-time employees allowing up to 6 free counseling sessions per year, in addition to other benefits.
  • Jury duty pay of 40 hours per year for full-time employees.
  • Bereavement pay of 40 hours per year for full-time employees.  This benefit is pro-rated for employees working less than 40 hours per week.
  • Retail discounts of 25% for all employees, valid at all three of Hospice Services of Lake County’s Thrift Store locations.

Chaplain, Part-Time

The Chaplain is responsible for providing spiritual care services to patients and families/caregivers of Hospices Services of Lake County, either directly or through coordination of care with other spiritual counselors.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

  1. Assures the spiritual assessment of patients and families/caregivers in the hospice program and the timely rendering of appropriate services.
  2. Facilitates the development of an individualized plan of care by participating in a comprehensive assessment to meet identified spiritual needs.
  3. Provides direct spiritual care to patients and families/caregivers.
  4. Serves as liaison and support to community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
  5. Maintains records of spiritual care services utilization and related activities for quality assurance, program development, and policies and procedures review and revision.
  6. Documents direct services and ongoing communication with community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
  7. Attends patient care conference and interdisciplinary group meetings as a member of the interdisciplinary group.
  8. Provides consultation, education, and support to the interdisciplinary group on spiritual care.
  9. Recruits community chaplains, spiritual counselors, and spiritual care volunteers to meet patient and family/caregiver needs by developing community contacts and educating congregations about hospice care.
  10. Provides funeral or memorial services for patients as requested.
  11. Plans periodic memorial services to meet the needs of personnel, volunteers, and community clergy/spiritual counselors working with the hospice team.
  12. Assists in supervising spiritual care volunteers when assigned to patients/ families/caregivers.
  13. Actively participates in quality assessment, performance improvement teams, and activities.
  14. Accepts and performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.

 

Position Qualifications

  1. Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv, or equivalent theological degree).  Experience working with death and dying, individuals/family/caregivers.
  2. Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary group.
  3. Comfort in an interfaith setting.
  4. Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
  5. Ability to network with community clergy and congregations.
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care.
  7. Hospice/ experience preferred.
  8. Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order.
